Background blur
Accentuate your subject's expressions with background blur
Creating portraits with an effective background blur is a particular feature of 35mm SLRs. The degree of blur is controlled by changing aperture and focal length. With digital cameras, however, sensor size plays a critical role in determining background blur quality: a large sensor provides the field of depth needed for this attractive effect. Combined with large-diameter EF lenses, the Canon CMOS sensor can produce a particularly appealing background blur.
