Canon makes all its own CMOS sensors. An accumulation of original technologies is the backbone of this development.

In its constant pursuit of higher-performance devices, Canon has manufactured semiconductors and developed sensors throughout its camera development history. The accumulation of technologies and know-how garnered through these efforts has enabled us to develop our proprietary CMOS sensors for digital SLR cameras. The high image quality of EOS DIGITAL cameras is achieved because of the large size, wide dynamic range, and low noise level of their CMOS sensors. Such high performance is possible only because Canon has a large number of original technologies at its disposal in developing and manufacturing its own CMOS sensors.
